Alvia high-speed train
The Spanish Alvia trains combine both a long distance and a high-speed service to connect major cities across Spain. The Alvia offers many routes such as connections from Madrid to Gijon, Alicante and Castellón and from Barcelona to Bilbao, A Coruña and Vigo. With air conditioned carriages and check-in control before boarding the Alvia is comfortable and relaxed way to traverse one of Europe's biggest countries.
Alvia high-speed train routes
Whether you wish to travel from Barcelona in the east to A Coruña in the north west or from central Madrid to Gijon in northern Spain, the Alvia offers extensive routes across Spain. The Alvia high-speed train seats offer a comfortable and spacious service with a buffet carriage and an option to purchase both hot and cold drinks and meals. 1st class (preferente) passengers can access the lounge before departure, and once onboard you’ll receive newspapers and a complimentary meal and drink served to your seat.

Reservations on the Alvia high-speed trains are compulsory. We recommend you make your reservations as far in advance as possible.
How to make reservations for the Alvia
You can reserve your seat on the Alvia in the following ways:

At the train station. Keep in mind that trains can become full during busy times.
Please note that children under 4 require a (free) ticket to travel on this train. This ticket can be obtained from a RENFE point of sale at all major train stations in Spain.
Reservation fees
- 2nd class (turista) seat: €6.50
- 1st class (preferente) seat: €23.50
Meal and drink are included in 1st class. If not available, reservation costs are €10.
